The first stage of the most large-scale project for selling real estate for bitcoins has been completed in Dubai: 50 elite apartments have been sold. Scottish baroness Michelle Mone and her business partner Doug Barrowman started the construction of a luxury residential complex in Dubai last year.
The total price of the project "Aston Plaza and Residence" is more than $ 327 million. 50 out of 1130 premises in the new building were put up for sale for bitcoins. One crypto investor is known to have bought a dozen of apartments at once.
The studios were sold at a price of $ 130 000 (about 15 bitcoins), apartments with two bedrooms - for $ 380 000 (about 45 bitcoins). Transactions were processed by the cryptocurrency platform BitPay.
Announcing the project, the creators were going to sell crypto investors 150 apartments. Barrowman says that requests for buying real estate for bitcoins are still coming. However, a new portion of the apartments has not been put up for sale yet.
The construction of the complex should be completed in 2020.
